Regaining control of abandoned communities

It’s now possible to appeal for administration rights transfer to the administrator of communities that haven’t been on the website for a while. If a community is administrated by someone who hasn’t been on the website for a while, you’ll see the following message on the community page:

By following that link, you’ll get to a page where you can write a message explaining why you’d like to become the new administrator for that community. Your message, along with a link that allows the person to transfer the administration rights to you, will be sent to the person by email, to the address they’ve registered for their inspi.re account. The link given to them in the email doesn’t require them to log onto inspi.re, so it should be really effortless for them to transfer administration rights if they don’t want to come back to inspi.re.

If you don’t see the message displayed in the picture above, it means that the administrator has come to inspi.re at least once in the last 30 days, so the best course of action is to send a private message to the community administrator.

There are no points involved in a community transfer. The former administrator won’t get the community’s creation cost points back and the new administrator doesn’t need any points to do the appeal process and take control of a community.
